I sold my original Minimal Phone MP01. It kinda ran like shit, and the company supported it for barely 2 years.

Now there’s the Minimal Phone 2 ($600) and the Clicks Communicator ($649). Both have 4-inch screens, physical keyboards, and a physical kill switch. Clicks has the bigger battery and a microSD slot. Minimal Phone 2 has the better philosophy: you pick how strict the phone is when you set it up, all the way up to “monk mode.”

If you just miss a keyboard, get the Clicks. If you actually want to use your phone less, get the Minimal Phone 2.

But I’m not buying either.

I’ve got my BigMe HiBreak Pro Color.

The thing is: the phone matters less than the setup. There are people with the newest iPhone who spend 28 minutes a day on it, and people with E-Ink phones who spend 9 hours on them (somehow).

Do this and thank me later: Before you spend $600 on a new phone, put AppBlock on the one you already have, and block your worst app for a week.

Reply and let me know: Minimal Phone 2, Clicks, or neither?

Till next time,

Kevin Tejada
